Twelve gaye holud ideas that still feel personal

Floor seating, kulo trays and a haldi colour palette that photographs beautifully.

The gaye holud is the most personal night of a Bengali wedding, and it is also the one families most often overplan. The best holuds we see this season start with one decision: who is this night for? If it's for close cousins, keep the guest list tight and spend on seating and music. If it's for the whole para, spend on food and flow.

Floor seating with jajim and kantha cushions keeps the energy close to the stage. Replace the traditional single swing with a low, wide platform so the bride can be surrounded rather than watched.

For colour, move beyond pure yellow. Marigold with muted rust, sage and ivory gives photographers far more depth, and it hides turmeric stains well.

Finally, build the tattho trays early. Styling ten trays the night before is the single most common source of holud day stress we hear about.
